Your Comments Against Tinubu, Supreme Court Treasonable – Enoh Tells Obi, Baba-Ahmed

The Delta State Government has refuted claims that it denied the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the party a venue for its campaign rally in the state.

Naija News reports that the state government debunked the claims in a statement issued on Sunday by the State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu.

The Commissioner said the party did not apply officially for any venue, and only made a demand to make use of the Arcade in Asaba via telephone on Sunday.

Aniagwu said the state government immediately reached out to the Oshimili South Local Government Council and secured a waiver of all formalities and made the Arcade in Asaba available for the party.

The Commissioner further said that in order to demonstrate the state’s democratic credentials and tolerance for the opposition, it graciously waived the amount payable for the venue.

He however urged the party to carry on its rally peacefully in line with laid down rules and regulations.

NLC Reveals Presidential Candidate For 2023 Election

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba, has said the union is in support of all candidates of the LP.

Speaking to The Nation, Wabba said organised labour remained the owner of the political party established for workers.

In a short message, he said: “We own the Labour Party and we (are) fully in support of our candidates.”

Naija News understands that leaders of the NLC and m the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has not been actively involved in campaigns of the Labour Party ahead of the general elections.

Aside from attending a national retreat of the LP in Abuja in September 2022, the leadership of organised Labour has been passive.

Speaking during the retreat, Wabba had said: “We have structures. Human beings are structures. We must activate it. We are activating all our structures in all the 774 local government areas and we have over 12 million members that will vote.
