Everton’s Alex Iwobi Undergoes Scan After Ankle Ligament Injury

Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi has undergone a scan to ascertain the extent of his ankle ligament injury.

In Everton’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup third round on Friday, Alex Iwobi injured his ankle and was forced to quit the game.

While attempting to rush through a counterattack for his squad, the 26-year-old Super Eagles star was tackled by Dutch defender Tyrell Malacia.

Before sustaining the Injury, Iwobi played an exciting game for the Toffees, producing chances that went unutilized. Due to the injury, coach Frank Lampard was forced to substitute him with Abdoulaye Doucoure.

After the game, coach Lampard confirmed that Alex Iwobi sustained an ankle ligament injury and would undergo a scan.

Lampard said: “We hope it’s not too serious. It is an ankle ligament injury, we hope it’s a lesser one. He will have a scan on Saturday to confirm.”

Earlier today, Naija News gathered that Iwobi has successfully undergone the scan and the result is not as alarming as feared.

All things being equal, Iwobi’s ankle ligament injury should be healed within three weeks which means that he might be fully available before the Everton Vs West Ham United Premier League game on January 21, 2023.
