Keyamo Defends Claim That Appointment Of Ministers Of State Is Unconstitutional

The Chief Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Festus Keyamo, has reacted to the endorsement of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Naija News earlier reported that Obasanjo, in a New Year message titled “My Appeal to all Nigerians, particularly young Nigerians”, endorsed Obi to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

The former Nigerian leader described Peter Obi as a needle with thread attached to it from North and South and he may not get lost.

Reacting in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday, Keyamo stated that it is within the former President’s right to endorse anyone for the 2023 Presidency.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment said Obi’s endorsement shows that Obasanjo does not think that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, deserves to be President this time around.

Keyamo said the little support Obasanjo gave PDP in 2019 couldn’t help them win, adding that he has taken that away to LP.

The minister, however, said Obi’s endorsement has no effect at all  the APC flagbearer, Bola Tinubu.

He wrote: “Quite within OBJ’s right to endorse anyone, but bad for PDP in 2 ways: (1.) Atiku’s former boss does not think he deserves to be President this time around (2) The little support OBJ gave PDP in 2019 & they failed, he has taken that away to LP. No effect at all on @officialABAT”
