PDP Take Bold Decision On G5 Governors, Fayose, Others

The five aggrieved Governors in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), popularly known as the G5, have rejected a meeting called by a former National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Aliyu Gusau (retd).

Recall that Gusau had waded into the crisis between the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the G-5 governors when met with Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State at his Abuja residence last week.

The Zamfara State-born politician also spoke to the PDP flagbearer on phone and subsequently invited him for a meeting on the crisis.

Naija News learned that the aggrieved governors have agreed not to meet with Gusau, a former Minister of Defence on the PDP crisis and rift with Atiku.

A source told the Nation that the governors said Gusau had pitched tents with Atiku during the PDP presidential primary and had been biased from the onset.

The source said: “The G-5 will not sit down with him because he has been biased from the onset. He pitched tents with Atiku. He has his reasons, the G-5 governors have theirs. Water and oil do not mix.”

On the camp’s preferred presidential candidate, one of the governors who craved anonymity confirmed that they met with the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Tinubu.

He said: “It was part of the ongoing consultations with all stakeholders. We have said that we will make our position known in January. Don’t jump the gun.

Five Likely Outcomes Of The London Meeting

A third source, who has been privy to the plans of the Governors listed some possible outcomes of the G5 strategic meeting in London as follows:

*To endorse Tinubu or Obi and damn the consequences

* A flat option: To support Tinubu or Obi with resources and the right environment to woo voters in the five states

*Leave every governor to take any decision based on political exigency in each state or zone

* Refuse to campaign for Atiku and allow the electorate in each state to decide who to vote for.

*Keep their game plan to themselves by waiting till the last minutes before making a pronouncement on their preferred candidate.
