The manager of OGC Nice, Lucien Favre, has confirmed that Aaron Ramsey has not joined his team since Wales exited Qatar World Cup in November.

It was “hard to digest,” according to Favre, that Aaron Ramsey and his Welsh teammates didn’t advance past the group stage in Qatar.

The former midfielder for Juventus and Arsenal last competed in Wales’ 3-0 loss to England in the group’s last match on November 29.

Ahead of OGC Nice’s French Ligue 1 game against Lens scheduled to kick off at 21:00 on Thursday, December 29, Nice’s coach, Lucien Favre said: “He is taking his time to really recover – that’s it,” said Favre of the 32-year-old, who has 78 caps for Wales.

“He was very disappointed with the World Cup.”

Wales made their first appearance in the World Cup since 1958 in Qatar, where Aaron Ramsey started all three of his country’s group games.

After starting with a draw against the United States and losing to Iran and England, they finished last in Group B.

Since joining the French club as a free agent in August after his contract with Juventus expired, Ramsey has been a regular for Nice, making 16 appearances across all competitions and participating in 12 of their 15 league games, including 90 minutes in their final game before the World Cup break on November 11.

Note that many World Cup participants have already made their way back to their clubs in the first division of France.

Three days after recording a hat-trick in the World Cup final, France’s Kylian Mbappe returned to Paris St-Germain training. Meanwhile, PSG manager Christophe Galtier announced that World Cup champion Lionel Messi would return “on 2 or 3 January.”
