Tribunal: INEC Closes Case Against PDP, Ashiru As Gov Sani Seeks Extension Of Time

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has once again stated that it would not tolerate any form of bribery in the 2023  electioneering process.

The Chairman of the Commission, Mahmood Yakubu reiterated the EFCC stand on the issue on Monday during a stakeholders summit aimed at addressing the influence of money on the 2023 general election.

In his welcome address, Yakubu lamented about the activities of certain individuals he described as money bags.

He stated that these people were desperate to compromise the will of the people with the use of cash.

He however stated that the Commission would not tolerate such gestures as they would do everything possible to ensure that money would not be used to subvert the will of the people in the 2023 elections.

He went on to warn politicians that elections are not business ventures aimed at accumulating profits but civilized means of selecting leaders at the various tiers of government.

Yakubu also disclosed the readiness of the election body to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with transport owners/stakeholders today (Monday) for the supply of vehicles during the election.

On his part, the Chairman, Inter-Party Advisory Council and the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Party, Sani Yabagi, called on Nigerians to rally round only candidates capable of repositioning the country rather than politicians desirous of buying their way to power.
