The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki sparked reactions after sharing photos from the event organized to commission streetlights in the state.

Naija News reports that Obaseki in the post shared on his Twitter page revealed that 3.3km of streetlights along Sapele road in Egor and Ikpoba-Okha local government areas have been completed and commissioned.

The Governor also reiterated his administration is committed to serving the Edo people and has planned to extend the project to other local government areas in the state.

He wrote: “With the commissioning of a 3km streetlights project along Siluko Rd and another 3.3km streetlights along Sapele Rd, in Egor and Ikpoba-Okha LGAs respectively, we have completed the construction of 40km out of the 200km of street lights projects around the greater Benin area.

“We remain commited to our people that we must light up Edo, and plan on extending the project to cover Iguoriahki, Igwuobazuwa and Okada within the next two years.”

The gesture stirred reactions as some Nigerians frowned over the ceremony as they reference other governors who are commission standard projects while others applauded him.

I remember how market people would stay till 9-10 during Oshiomholes tenure, because everywhere was lighted but today, 7pm Benin starts looking like a ghost town”
