Two Political Parties Form Alliance For 2023 Presidency

The African Action Congress (AAC) and a faction of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) have announced an alliance for the purpose of the 2023 presidential election.

The National Chairman of the AAC who also doubles as the party’s presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore announced this during a press conference on Monday in Abuja to reveal the alliance between his party and the PRP.

Sowore also shared images and videos of the alliance on his Twitter handle.

Speaking during the press conference, the AAC candidate said the motive behind the alliance is to liberate Nigerians from the “shackles of corrupt and greedy politicians who have held the country hostage for several years.”

He said with the alliance, AAC and PRP are set to end injustice, oppression, insecurity, bad governance, and corruption in the country.

According to Sowore, “Today (Monday), these two political parties, the oldest revolutionary party – the PRP and youngest party – the AAC in the country are forming an alliance to overthrow and take down evil system of oppression in Nigeria.

“The AAC was the first political party founded by young people. I mean radical elements in Nigeria. It is the first political party in recent history that called for a revolution in Nigeria and carried out that master plan in about thirty (30) cities in 2019.”

Sowore boasted that the faction with which he was forming an alliance is the authentic faction of the PRP.

“So the same thing that happened to the PRP also happened to us. At one point, the PRP was hijacked by reactionary elements. Also in 2019, the AAC was hijacked by reactionary elements. We are forming an alliance with the original, authentic and undiluted PRP today,” he maintained.

Speaking further, Sowore said there was no difference between the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), as they are all offshoots of “frustrated politicians who defected from the PDP.”

On his own part, the factional National Chairman of the PRP, Abdulmajid Daudu said the two parties share similar ideologies and ambitions.

He called on other left-oriented parties to join them in the task of saving Nigeria in 2023 as no messiah is coming to save the country.

Daudu argued that the same set of people whom he described as criminals have been ruling Nigeria for about twenty years but it is time for a revolution to take over power through the polls.

He said, “We are both left-oriented political parties. We believe that fundamental human rights of Nigerians must be respected in line with the Constitution.

“The two political parties are coming together today in order to bring hope to the Nigerian people. We are calling on the left-oriented movement to come under this alliance so that we can defeat these revolutionary elites.

“This is just the beginning of the alliance and we are formalizing it now. Hopefully the formalization and alliance programmes and procedures will continue subsequently. I hope this will be a great hope for Nigerian people and the youths and this will be the end of hardship Nigerians are going through.

“For 20 years, Nigeria has been (about) the same set of people ruling the country that has not yielded anything good.

“This alliance is the beginning of a process of networking, mobilizing and organizing of Nigerian masses to defeat these criminals in government and it will go down to the lowest level of government.

“It will go to our comrades in the farms, markets, schools so that we can defeat these organizations that have held us, hostage, all these years.

“The Nigerian people have to wake up. No messiah is coming to do it for us. We have to do it by ourselves and no other time than now. We are ready and we are going to lead the struggle. We are not ready to back out and we will not compromise.”

It Is Cheap Fraud

Naija News recalls a few days ago, the PRP had denied going into any alliance with the AAC or any other party for the 2023 presidential election.

The acting Assistant National Publicity Secretary of the PRP, Muhammed Ishaqwho who made the clarification in a statement said Sowore has fallen for cheap fraud.

He maintained that Kola Abiola remains the authentic presidential candidate of the party and together with his running mate, Haro Zego, victory is sure.

The statement reads in part, “The attention of the national leadership of PRP has been drawn to a pernicious publication by the AAC via its National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye, that the PRP has entered into an alliance with the AAC.

“The said publication is nothing but a ridiculous sham and unsophisticated falsehood as there was no time the PRP or its candidate entered into an alliance with any political party or candidate.

“Thus, we urge the public to disregard this falsehood as our presidential candidate, Kola Abiola and his running mate, Haro Zego are still in the race to win.

“Our preliminary findings however revealed that the AAC and its presidential candidate have fallen for cheap fraud in the hands of some faceless scammers who have never been members of the PRP at any level.

“We, therefore, advise the AAC and its presidential candidate to, going forward, do background checks before establishing talks with any element as doing so will save them from further falling for frauds and embarrassment.

“The PRP, as the oldest surviving political party in Nigeria, is known for strong ideologies and principles and will continue holding on to them without compromise.”
