The Ondo State command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested one Ojo Joseph for allegedly setting five children ablaze.

The 54-year-old currently being investigated at the command’s headquarters, reportedly set the five of his stepchildren in the Fagun Crescent area of Ondo town on fire on Saturday.

A resident of the area who spoke on condition of anonymity told newsmen that the suspect accused his wife, who happens to be the victim’s mother of offending him.

He also claimed that the suspect committed the act because his wife denied him having sex.

Naija News learnt that Joseph poured gasoline on the room while the kids were fast asleep, and one of them died in the ensuing fire.

Confirming the incident to newsmen in Akure on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Funmilayo Odunlami, said the incident occurred yesterday and that the suspect was being investigated while the victims (stepchildren) were being treated at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo.

“This is a case of alleged arson and murder, and we need to investigate it to know the cause and how it happened.

“Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to our Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for proper investigation,” Odunlami said.

Three Boko Haram Terrorists Killed As Troops Comb Borno Communities

The troops of Operation Hadin Kai reportedly neutralized at least three fighters of the Boko Haram terrorist group in a recent operation in Borno State.

The troops, Naija News learnt, were combing the Gubio Local Government Area of the state when they came in contact with the terrorists.

Famous counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in his recent reports on the insurgency in the axis.

Makama revealed that the troops shot down the assailants during the encounter and recovered some weapons.

He noted that the troops carried out the operation in a joint operation with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

The terrorists, according to him, have been terrorising commuters in the communities, robbing them of their valuables every Friday evening. He noted that two terrorists carried AK-47 riffles while the third one was their rider.

“Our gallant troops killed insurgents members in Gubio general areas and two AK47 rIffles with two magazines as well as a motorcycle were recovered from the terrorists,” the source said.
