#NigeriaDecides: INEC Declares Tinubu Winner In Ondo State - [See Total Results]

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu says if he wins the 2023 election, he would ensure roles not expected to be played by Police operatives would be taken away from them.

He said this would be part of his reforms in the Police force and in the nation’s internal security architecture as a whole.

The former Lagos State Governor said such roles would be transferred to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) which is the agency created and empowered by law for such.

According to him, Police operatives are not supposed to engage in VIP security and guard duties.

Naija News reports he made the submission as part of his action plan (manifesto) set to be unveiled today, Friday, 21st October.

Speaking via a statement released on Thursday night by the Director, Media & Publicity, Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, the APC presidential candidate said: “Police reform will be focused on positioning the institution to better deliver on its primary duties of community policing and maintaining law and order through crime fighting and prevention.

“Police personnel will be freed from extraneous duties such as VIP security and guard duties. VIP Security and provision of security for government buildings, installations and other critical assets will be transferred to The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

“The NSCDC shall be evaluated and reformed to be better integrated with our internal security apparatus.”
