Buhari To Present 2023 Budget To National Assembly Today

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to present the proposed N19.76 trillion budget for the 2023 financial year before the National Assembly today.

The 2023 budget, which would be the last time President Buhari will be presenting before the lawmakers, is about 15.37 per cent increase compared to the 2022 budget.

Recall that the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila during plenary on Tuesday read a letter forwarded by President Buhari concerning the presentation.

The letter from the president partly states, “This is to inform the House that I will 10:00 am on Friday, 7th October 2022, formally present the 2023 appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.

“Please accept, Mr Speaker, the assurances of my highest regards. I look forward to addressing the joint session.”

Lawan after reading the letter disclosed that President Buhari will address the joint session of parliamentarians.

FEC Deliberates On the 2023 Draft Budget

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, in Abuja on Wednesday, deliberated on the draft 2023 budget estimates.

The FEC meeting, which is being held virtually at the Council Chambers of the presidential villa in Abuja, is currently going on while some members are in physical attendance.

Among those attending the meeting physically are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan; and Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
