President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived at the National Assembly complex to present the proposed N19.76 trillion budget for the 2023 financial year.

Naija News reports that the Nigerian leader was received into the complex by the Chairman of the National Assembly and the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, was also on the ground to receive President Buhari to the National Assembly.

President Buhari was accompanied by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Chief of Staff to President, Ibrahim Gambari; ministers, some presidential aides, and heads of government parastatals and agencies.

The President is expected to present the appropriation bill to the joint session of the national assembly at the temporary chamber of the house of representatives.

The 2023 budget which would be the last time President Buhari will be presenting is about a 15.37 percent increase compared to the 2022 budget.

Recall that Lawan during plenary on Tuesday read a letter forwarded by President Buhari informing the lawmakers of his intention to formally present the 2023 appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly,

The letter from the president partly states, “This is to inform the House that I will 10:00 am on Friday, 7th October 2022, formally present the 2023 appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.

Please accept, Mr Speaker, the assurances of my highest regards. I look forward to addressing the joint session.
