LASU Mouns As Former VC Hussein Dies At 75

The former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU), Professor Lateef Akanni Hussein has been reported dead.

The academician was said to have suffered an undisclosed sickness before he passed out on Sunday, July 31, 2022.

Naija News understands that Hussein died at the age of 75. His demise was confirmed via the LASU official Facebook page on Monday morning.

The deceased was the sixth Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University. Hussein served the prestigious varsity between 2005 and 2011.

Burial arrangement for the deceased is reportedly ongoing as families said the remains of Husseini will be laid to rest today according to Islamic rites.

LASU’s incumbent Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has also confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.

Mrs Bello expressed shock at the demise of the former professor of Physics under whose leadership she served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University.

“The respected scholar will be buried today, Monday, 1st August, 2022 according to Islamic rites at Atan Cemetery shortly after a Janazah prayer at LASUTH Central Mosque, Ikeja, Lagos,” Mrs Bello noted.
