Tinubu Attackers

The Lagos State Police have arrested eight members of cult groups in connection with the attack on the convoy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

The suspects were arrested from their multiple hideouts at Lagos Island by detectives attached to Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

Recall that Tinubu was attacked during his return to Lagos after the APC presidential primary election in Abuja.

The suspects, in the June 19 ambush, confessed they were recruited by different gang leaders based on Lagos Island.

Parading the suspects before journalists at the weekend, the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Hauwa Idris-Adamu, disclosed that operatives have launched a manhunt for the sponsors of the attack.

She also added that the attackers were sponsored by someone who they would not mention his name to the public.

Hauwa said: “The attackers were sponsored by someone who we wouldn’t mention his name.

“They also belong to various cult fraternities. Investigations are still ongoing and we would get back to the press as soon as we have the principal suspect in our net.”

One of the suspects, Ramon Aniseoju, claimed they were directed to stop the motorcade from getting to its final destination.

“We were paid to prevent those on the convoy from getting to the palace of the Oba of Lagos and to disperse them,” he said.
