Photo News: Buhari Returns From Senegal, Holds Emergency Security Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday held an emergency National Security Council meeting with service chiefs and security heads after his return from Dakar, Senegal.

The Nigerian leader on Wednesday departed Abuja to participate in the International Development Association (IDA) for Africa Summit hosted by President Macky Sall of the Republic of Senegal.

Despite the attack on Kuje Prison in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Tuesday night, President Buhari left for the meeting and returned to Abuja on Thursday.

Following the escape of about 70 Boko Haram members and over 300 inmates, President Buhari summoned the service chiefs, security heads and some ministers to the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, are among those present at the meeting.

Others attending the meeting include the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (retd), Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi and Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd.).

Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao are also in attendance.

Also in attendance are the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman; the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; is being represented at the meeting.
