Reactions As Tinubu Denies Picking Muslim Candidate As Running Mate

Reactions have trailed the comment by the All Progressives Congress presidential flag-bearer, Bola Tinubu, that his running mate would be a Christian.

Naija News reports that Tinubu was reacting to speculations that the ruling party is making moves to pick a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential race.

The alleged move has received a barrage of reactions from party stakeholders, religious groups, leaders and concerned citizens who argued differently about their reasons for supporting and rejecting the rumoured bid.

Tinubu has, however, faulted the viral claims of him picking a Muslim-Muslim ticket, stating that he intends to pick a Northern Christian as his running mate.

The former Governor of Lagos State gave the clarification while addressing journalists at the APC governorship rally in Ekiti State on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, ahead of the state’s governorship election.

He rubbished the reports, describing the carriers of the claims as undemocratic elements. Tinubu said the carriers of the untrue report were only being threatened by his imminent victory in the coming presidential election.

The APC chieftain, however, assured Nigerians that no group, institution or person can impose a running mate on him.
