Nigeria Must Cease Being A Klling Field – Peter Obi
President aspirant and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi on Wednesday condemned the killing of innocent Nigerians in Plateau and Benue State.
The Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections said Nigeria must cease being a killing field.
Obi added that Nigeria cannot be insensitive to the killings in the country, especially in areas close to ungoverned rural and urban communities.
The PDP chieftain noted that the gunmen are targeting the most vulnerable and helpless in our society.
Obi in the statement said the level of killings in the country questions the responsibility of the government to protect lives and properties.
The statement reads, “Nigeria must cease being a killing field. These numbers are human beings and loved ones of many families.
“As a nation, we cannot be insensitive to the ongoing bloodletting and targeting of the most vulnerable and helpless in our society.”
President Muhammadu Buhari in his reaction to the latest killings in Plateau State a few days ago had described it as heinous, saying that the perpetrators should not be allowed to escape justice.
In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari directed the Nigerian military not to spare or forgive terrorists.
