Details Of Buhari’s Meeting With Council Of State Emerge

The details of the meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the Council of State have emerged.

Naija News earlier reported that the council of state meeting which started at 10 am, was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Some of the past Nigerian leaders physically present at the meeting include Goodluck JonathanAbdusalami Abubakar, and Yakubu Gowon.

While former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former military president, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and other leaders joined the meeting virtually.

Briefing State House Correspondents after the meeting, Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa said the worsening insecurity in the country was the main talking point of the meeting.

Badaru said President Buhari will meet with service chiefs and heads of security agencies on April 19 to address the security challenges facing the country.

The governor said the president will relay the recommendations and comments by the Council of State on the worsening insecurity to the service chief and security heads.

Naija News understands that the scheduled meeting will be the second of its kind within three weeks following the recent killings in Plateau, Benue and Taraba States.

Also the abduction of over 100 passengers on the Abuja-Kaduna train and the kidnap of five students of the College of Health Science and Technology in Tsafe town, Zamfara State on Wednesday

Speaking further, Badaru said 159 persons out of 162 are to be granted various levels of pardon by the President and 434 Nigerians would be conferred with national honours.

It will be the first honours granted and pardon by President Buhari since he assumed office in 2015.
