2023 Election: List Of State Governors Tribunal May Sack

A tailor, Afeez Ayodele who allegedly stabbed his colleague to death has been remanded by a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square.

The suspect reportedly committed the crime on April 16 2020 about 9.00 a.m at Chukwudi Okoro Street, at United Estate, Sangotedo, Lagos.

Mr M.A. Olateju the Lagos State prosecution counsel informed the court that the suspect murdered one Obiora by stabbing him with a knife on his chest.

The incident occurred at the peak of the Coronavirus period when the face mask business was blooming and both men were contracted to sew masks.

Olateju said; “An argument ensued between the two over who is to use a particular sewing machine, the defendant suddenly brought out a knife and stabbed the deceased on the chest.”

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of murder which the prosecutor said contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The defendant’s counsel, Mr R. O. Oboh also informed the court that he had filed a bail application and served the prosecution.

Justice Sonaike ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre while the case was adjourned to June 6 for commencement of trial.
