An officer of the Nigerian Police Force identified as Inspector Michael Timitimi has died during the burial ceremony of his own grandmother.

Timitimi who until his death was attached to the Bayelsa Command of the Nigeria Police suddenly slumped during the burial ceremony of his grandmother in Igbedi community in Kolokuma\Opokuma Local Government Area of the State.

He also served with the State security outfit, the State Vigilante Service and Bayelsa Volunteer Force until his sudden death during the burial rites of his grandmother over the weekend.

According to an eyewitness account, the late Inspector had just left the dance floor during the wake of his grandmother when he suddenly slumped and was rushed to the hospital.

It was at the hospital that he was confirmed dead.

Confirming the demise of the officer, the Chairman of Bayelsa State Volunteers, Mr Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo said the late Timitimi was a committed officer who never joked with duty.

Also, the spokesman for the Bayelsa Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat, while confirming the officer’s death said he had some health challenges and died in the hospital where he was taken for treatment after he slumped.

The elder brother of the deceased, Mr. Enetimi Timitimi, said the public will be kept informed on the burial plans for the late police officer.
