No fewer than twelve persons have been confirmed dead in a ghastly road accident in Bauchi State.

The victims include nine adult males, one female adult, one male child and one female child, Naija News learnt.

The disturbing accident which happened on Sunday according to reports involved three vehicles.

It was gathered that the accident occurred at about 13:17 and was reported at about 13:26.

Personnel from Potiskum Unit Command of the Yobe Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reportedly arrived at the scene at about 13:42.

The accident, which occurred at Lanzai village in Darazo Local Government Area of the state along the ever-busy Bauchi-Potiskum highway, involved a Toyota Hummer bus belonging to Borno Express and two Opel Vectra saloon cars, all commercial vehicles.

The FRSC attributed the crash to overspeeding and wrong overtaking resulting in a collision.

Twelve other passengers from the vehicles reportedly sustained degrees of injuries and are now been treated at a hospital.

On the account of the deceased, an FRSC report said they have been deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital, Potiskum, Yobe State.

This is coming barely a week after three people were killed in an auto crash on at Viniklang junction, in Adamawa State.

The accident which happened a little distance away from Jimeta bridge, involved a Truck loaded with grains, Naija News reports.

Two of the victims were riding on a motorcycle while the other was trying to cross the road when the truck rammed into them and crushed them to death.
