#ASUUStrikeUpdate: See Universities That Have Voted To Suspend Strike

President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has been accused by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of showing levity in its negotiation with its members.

The President of ASUU, Emmanuel Osodeke in an interview with Vanguard noted that ending the industrial action is dependent on the readiness of the Federal Government

He stated that the strike will end if the Federal Government take the issue with importance and do the needful.

Osodeke further stated that the last meeting between its members and the federal government was not productive because the government team acted as if it did not know the issues at stake.

He said, “our last meeting did not lead to anything meaningful because the government team acted as if they were not aware of the issues at stake. We have been on this thing for some years now. What we expected from them is to come to the meeting with answers to what we are demanding.

“We were surprised that their team came with no action as to how to resolve the issues. Another meeting is slated for Tuesday and we hope they would change and do the needful. What we are asking for has been in the public domain for a long that almost everybody knows what the issues are. Surprisingly, they did not come up with any action plan. meet our demands and resolve the issues.”

Osodeke when asked if the issue would be resolved in the next meeting, said the action of the federal government and readiness would determine that.
