Governor Matawalle Picks Senator Nasiha As New Deputy

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has nominated the lawmaker representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Hassan Muhammad Nasiha as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

This is coming after the state House of Assembly impeached the Deputy Governor, Aliyu Gusau in the early hours of Wednesday.

Gusau was impeached by twenty lawmakers out of twenty-four lawmakers in plenary on Wednesday.

The spokesperson of the house, Mustafa Jafaru Kaura, while giving reason for Gusau’s impeachment, said the former Deputy Governor was found guilty of all the allegations levelled against him.

Matawalle, who wasted no time, sent a letter to the state assembly seeking the screening of Nasiha.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya, read the governor’s letter at plenary on Wednesday.
