RRS Arrests Tricycle Owner's Association Leader In Lagos, Recover Gun (Photos)

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one of the leaders of the Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN) in the state.

Information made available to Naija News by the RRS on Thursday identified the arrested leader as Alhaji Azeez Abiola.

He was arrested alongside four other suspects for attempting to cause mayhem in Agege just a pump action gun was recovered in the area.

Arrested Suspects

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi has directed CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi to transfer the suspects and the exhibit to the State Command for further investigations.

It will be recalled that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led government of Lagos State has suspended the operations of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the Idumota area of the state.

Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, confirmed the suspension on Tuesday.

Naija News reports that the decision was coming shortly after the deadly clash recorded in the area.

Recall that Lagos State Rapid Response Squad on Monday arrested popular members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Kunle Poly and Sego.

Sego whose real name is Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle is the NURTW Lagos Treasurer while Kunle Poly whose real name is Alhaji Abdulazeez Adekunle Lawal is the Chairman Lagos Island ‘B’ of the group

Naija News reports that the duo were arrested by the RSS led by State Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi.

In a statement to newsmen, the police accused the duo of being behind dangerous clashes in Idumota and its environs which has continuously crippled commercial activities in the area.
