27 suspected criminals have been apprehended by operatives of the Lagos Police Command between February 4 and 5, 2021.

In a statement on Sunday, signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the criminals were arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

Adejobi said the RRS commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, and his men arrested the suspected criminals in Ikeja, Agege, Ile Zik, Dopemu under bridge, Shasha, Orisumbare, Iyana-Ipaja under bridge, Ile-Epo, Abule Egba, Isokoko, Alfa Nla, Capitol Road, Akilo, Marketing, and Alausa Central Business District (CBD).

He said the arrested suspects were Olajide Kolawole, 26; Kehinde Ayoola, 25; Dola Abdullahi, 20; Michael Ogungbade, 19, and 23 others.

According to the police spokesman, the suspects were arrested after the commissioner of police directed the RSS commander to place certain spots under surveillance and dislodge the criminals.

Adejobi noted that Odumosu commended the operatives for the successful operation, adding that the command would continue its fight against traffic robbery, cultism, and other social vices in the state.

He stressed that cultism and traffic robbery remain unpardonable crimes that will not be overlooked or spared, as they attract stringent punishments in the law.

The police PRO said the CP implored parents and guardians to monitor the company of their children and wards keep them away from all criminal activities.
