Banditry: Mobile Networks Restored To Zamfara Communities

The ban on telecommunication networks in Zamfara State due to the activities of bandit terrorists has been lifted.

Naija News recalls that Governor Bello Matawalle had ordered the shut down of telecommunication services on September 4 as part of measures to curb the attacks by armed terrorists and kidnapping in the state.

The Matawalle-led government later restored mobile network service to Gusau, the state capital, a month later.

Giving an update on the situation, the governor had last week directed the restoration of telecom services in 14 Local Government Areas of the state within 48 hours.

Matawallle also disclosed that his government will soon lift the ban on weekly market activities in the state.

“From the information we have gotten, there is clear reduction in the surge of crimes in our communities and by Monday or Tuesday, every one in our communities would be able to communicate with the outside world.

“We are taking right steps to ensure the criminals have no breathing space. If we are suffering, they are suffering too. The social and economic wellbeing of the people affected by our measures will be normalized,” he had said.

According to Eons Intelligence, the state government has restored mobile network services in the affected communities.
