Popular Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Abdulganiyu Fasasi, also known as Sound Sultan, has been pronounced dead.

A statement on Sunday signed by his brother, Kayode Fasasi, on behalf of the family said that Sound Sultan died at the age of 44 after a battle with throat cancer.

The statement added that that late singer and songwriter is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings.

The statement reads: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Multi-talented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter, Onlanrewaju Fasasi a.k.a Sound Sultan.

“He passed away at the age of 44 following a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma.

“He is survived by his wife, 3 children and his siblings. We, his family appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss.”

Naija News reports that the late singer’s music career started in 1991 and released his first single “Jagbajantis” in 2000 which became a massive hit in Nigeria.

After independently releasing other singles and featuring in hit songs of other artists, he was signed by Kennis Music before moving to Naija Ninjas which he started with his brother Baba Dee.

Meanwhile, the organisers of the Big Brother Naija reality show, have decried a list of supposed Season 6 housemates circulating in some sections of the media.

The organisers stated, “We have received an unverified trending list of the Big Brother Naija 2021 Housemates. This is to clearly state that the official list has not been released.”

Warning fans against the spread of fake and unconfirmed housemates’ list, BBNaija added that “The BBNaija official names of housemates will be published on the launching of the 2021 reality TV show, as Ebuka will be on stage to introduce housemates into the house.”
