Reports have emerged that the scarcity of brooms has hit Cross River State after the All Progressives Congress (APC) ordered a huge supply of the item.

The broom which is the symbol of the APC is said to have become scarce in the market after APC ordered three million bunches in the state to welcome new entrants into the party.

Naija News recalls the State Governor, Ben Ayade, recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC, and many politicians in the state have been following in his footsteps.

Speaking on the scarcity of brooms in the state, the state APC publicity secretary, Bassey Ita, said the party ordered 3 million bunches of brooms “from local suppliers to meet the growing demand.”

He noted that it is a sign that more people in the state have chosen to associate with the APC.

“It is no longer news that the broom revolution has since hit our dear state, following the defection of our amiable governor to our party.

“But what is now news is that broom scarcity has hit Cross River as millions of our people continue to identify with the party.

“Last weekend, local government chairmen, councillors, federal and state lawmakers, alongside 100,000 of their supporters in Bekwarra, Ikom and Etung council areas joined the party,” the statement added.

The statement further commended “the tenacity of purpose and single-mindedness of the people of the state for aligning with the governor in his drive to socket Cross River to the centre”.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari is only trying to divert attention from calls for restructuring with his comments on appointments.

Naija News reports that Buhari on Monday said that he has been fair and inclusive with his appointments and policies.

Speaking in Abuja at a conference organised for youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Buhari denied allegations of nepotism and lopsided appointments.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, the president said all the regions have been impacted positively.
