President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday hosted a delegation of Nigerian governors who were in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on a condolence visit to the President.

The Governors were at the Villa to condole with Buhari following the death of the Chief Of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, and some other military chiefs in an ill-fated plane crash on Friday.

Those who visited the President on Monday were the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Dr Kayode Fayemi, the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Caretaker Committee and Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, and the governor of Niger State, Sani Bello.

The visit was confirmed in a Twitter statement from the official handle of the federal government on Monday.

The statement reads: “Today at the State House, President @MBuhari received a condolence visit from Representatives of Nigeria Governor’s Forum on departed Chief of Army Staff and other Military Officers, who died in a plane crash.”

Meanwhile, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has told the people and residents of the state to get weapons and defend themselves against killer herdsmen.

The Governor made the call on Sunday at the Government House Chapel, Makurdi during an interdenominational service to round up a seven-day prayer and fasting programme for peace in the state.

Ortom who warned that he would no longer announce the killing of his people by Fulani herdsmen told them to get weapons such as Dane guns, bows and arrows, spears and knives as well as other weapons not prohibited by law to defend themselves.

He urged them to get the guns registered for self-defence.
