Matawalle Reveals People Sponsoring Bandits In Zamfara

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State has accused politicians and prominent personalities in the state of sponsoring bandits.

He made the accusation on Tuesday when he received the Nigeria Governors' (NGF) Forum's delegation led by Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State at the Government House, Gusau.

Matawalle, however, vowed to arrest any politician who enters the state with the intention to use thugs to foment trouble and make the state ungovernable.

He asserted that there is nobody that can claim to be above the law of the land, vowing that he had drawn a battle line with the enemies of peace in the state.

Matawalle challenged any of the politicians to dare him and see the consequences, stressing that he is now in charge of the affairs of the state.

The governor maintained that the prominent personalities solidly behind banditry in the state would be arrested soon and that their sins would also find them out.

"These power drunk politicians cannot stay in Abuja, Kaduna or anywhere in Nigeria and be instigating crisis and be sponsoring terrorism in the state, killing thousands of innocent citizens of the state for selfish interest," he said.

The governor appreciated the NGF for coming to visit him over the release of 279 Jangebe schoolgirls kidnapped last Friday.
