1. Senate ‘Bans’ Buhari From Foreign Medical Trips

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari and other top government officials should no longer engage in foreign medical trips.

This position was adopted by Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs when the State House permanent secretary, Tijani Umar appeared before it to defend the 2021 budget figures for the State House.

2. Details Of Buhari’s Meeting With Sultan Of Sokoto, Ooni Of Ife, Others

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with First class traditional rulers from the six geopolitical zone Nigeria at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Buhari during the meeting called on traditional rulers to support his government in addressing the demands of Nigerian youths.

3. Police Ban All Forms Of Protest In Lagos State

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has banned all forms of protests in Lagos State until further notice.

The Police in a statement on Thursday, 5th November signed by SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, State public relations officer on behalf of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police noted that the state can’t accommodate any kind of protest at this time.

Adejobi added that the Police had received intelligence reports that some persons were planning fresh protests in the state. He, therefore, warned such persons to shelf their plans as the state is still healing from the violence that erupted after the #EndSARS protests.

4. Zamfara APC: Marafa Demands Buni’s Resignation For ‘Misleading’ The Public

Former Zamfara central senator, Kabiru Marafa has demanded the immediate resignation or sack of the Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is as Marafa maintained that contrary to what the committee wants the public to believe, it has not resolved the crisis rocking the Zamfara chapter of the APC.

5. Nigeria Drops In Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index

Nigeria has dropped lower in the latest ranking of countries according to Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index.

According to the report, the West African country slipped from its previous 136th position in 2015 (when President Muhammadu Buhari was first inaugurated) to now occupy 146th position out of 180 countries.

6. FG Says No Plan To Increase VAT In 2021

The federal government of Nigeria has denied nursing plans to increase the Value Added Tax (VAT) and other taxes in 2021.

The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed made this known on Thursday while speaking during the budget defence of her ministry before the Senate Committee on Finance in Abuja.

7. Gov. Ortom Speaks On Alleged Missing Manhood In Benue

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has dismissed the report on the alleged disappearance of manhood in the state through mystical powers.

According to NAN, the alleged claims has led to anger in Guma Local Government Area of the State.

Governor Ortom in his reaction to the development described the claims as “baseless and the handiwork of mischief makers.”

8. Lagos Violence: Gov. El-Rufai Visits Sanwo-Olu

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Thursday visited Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House in Marina.

El-Rufai in a post on his Twitter account noted that he’s in the state to commiserate with the government and people on recent events in the State.

He also commended the state Governor for signing an Executive Order to restore lost assets.

9. Obasanjo Exposes How Atiku Failed In Bid To Become President In 2003

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has narrated circumstances surrounding how his former Vice President Atiku Abubakar lost out in his bid to become Nigeria’s president.

Obasanjo explained that Atiku had a deal to be Alex Ekwueme’s running mate in the 2003 presidential race and then later take over from Ekwueme one year before their first term ends so he can complete the term and run again in 2007.

However, Chief Obasanjo who spoke on Thursday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital said the alliance between the two of them collapsed even as Ekwueme failed to win the 2003 presidential primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

10. FG Targets Completion Of Priority Road Projects In 2021 Budget, Says Fashola

The Federal Government, on Thursday, says it targets the completion of some priority road projects especially those within the routes A1-A9 in the 2021 budget.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola stated this during the 2021 budget defence of his ministry before the House Committee on Works, in Abuja, on Thursday.
