Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has condemned Saturday’s attack on the Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola allegedly by #EndSARS protesters in Osogbo.

Recall that thugs had attacked the convoy of the Osun state governor at Olaiya junction, which resulted in the death of two people.

Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, Oyetola stated that the attack on his life was carried out by political thug.

He stated that his government shall investigate the matter with a view of bringing the perpetrators of this heinous act to book.

“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, we shall ensure that lives and properties of our people shall be protected and anybody found culpable of causing unrest shall be made to face the wrath of the law,” he said.

But in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistance on Media and Publicity, Akeredolu described the attack as an act of terrorism.

Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, said the #EndSARS movement was already being hijacked by politicians to visit their frustrations on perceived opponents.

He stated that the agitation seems to have come under a curious integrity test following the misdirected anger visited on Governor Oyetola by the protesters.

The Ondo State governor maintained that attack on any other Governor anywhere in the country is a clear infliction of double jeopardy as he stated that no Governor is in charge of any Police Formation, Unit or Department.

Akeredolu urged the youths to hold firm their belief in the Nigerian Project and press for whatever is desirable to make it work as he admonished them not to be useful tools in the hands of politicians at this trying period.
