#EndSARS: Onochie’s Nomination As INEC Commissioner A Distraction – Reno

Former presidential aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has reacted to the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as the Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari on Tuesday nominated his Special Assistant on Social Media alongside Prof. Mohammed Sani representing Katsina; Prof. Kunle Ajayi (Ekiti) and Seidu Ahmed (Jigawa).

This was confirmed in a letter of request to the National Assembly which was read during plenary on Tuesday by Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

The nomination of the Presidential aide has, however been condemned by Nigerians who described Onochie as a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress.

Reno in his reaction to the development noted that the decision of Buhari is a strategy to distract Nigerians from the ongoing #EndSARS protest.

He wrote, “Think about it. Which President appoints his own spokeswoman into @INECNigeria? in a country with a strong opposition and a virile media? General @MBuhari is just gaslighting the public. It is to distract from #EndSARS
