The Chinese Government has signed the United Nations arms trade treaty which was rejected by Donald Trump-led administration.

Naija News learnt that US President Barack Obama signed it, but the move was disputed by the National Rifle Association and the US Senate never authorised it.

Trump said in April last year that he has plans to nullify the role of the United States in the treaty as a signatory party.

However, Speaking on the new treaty Zhang Jun, China’s ambassador to the UN, said in a statement that the signing show Chinnes governments Determination and sincerity in maintaining international arms control regime, supporting multilateralism, and forging a community with a shared future for mankind.

The statement added that Beijing allows arms exports only to sovereign states and not to non-state actors.

Zang had earlier berated Donald trump’s administration on “bullying, unilateralism and frustrating” intentions to tackle global issues. China’s UN ambassador, Zhang Jun, said he had put in China’s instrument of consent to the treaty.
