Eyitayo Jegede Withdraws From 2024 Ondo Governorship Race

Mr Eyitayo Jegede, a governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, has noted that the party has a chance of winning in the forthcoming October 10 governorship election in the state.

He noted that the party will end the reign of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.

Jegede, who was the governorship candidate of the party in the 2016 election, noted that the ruling party has performed poorly and is losing its popularity in the state.

The PDP chieftain further stated that the performance of APC in the state has given PDP the chance to take over.

The former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, in a statement on Saturday, added that the internal crisis in the APC and the number of aspirants contesting against the sitting Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu is a clear indication that the party members have no confidence in the governor’s administration.

“Democracy is about choice; the people determine who will govern them. The populace will have to weigh their options, whether their lives have improved in the last three and a half years, whether the economy has improved, whether security has improved and whether the educational system has improved.”
