Due to the increased cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Guinea-Bissau, President Umaro Sissoco Embalo has issued an order of extension on the nationwide state of emergency in the country.

Naija News understands that president Umaro announced the extension to May 11, 2020, a few moments ago.

However, reports reaching this online news platform at this time confirmed that Guinea-Bissau Prime Minister, Nuno Nabiam and three other ministers in the country, have been confirmed positive for dreadful COVID-19 pandemic.

Confirming the development on Wednesday, April 29, Guinea-Bissau Health Minister, Antonio Deuna disclosed that the affected public figures have been quarantined and placed under care.

Naija News gathered that Interior Minister for Guinea-Bissau, Botche Cande and two secretaries of state, Mario Fambe and Monica Buaro also were confirmed positive for the novel Coronavirus.

Guinea-Bissau as at the time of filing this report has confirmed seventy-three cases of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported one-hundred-and-ninety-six new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
