COVID-19: Premier League Clubs Agrees To Complete Season

English Premier League clubs following deliberation on Wednesday, March 18, have agreed to complete the 2019/2020 league games.

According to reports on Thursday, the 20 member clubs have all voted to complete season games which were earlier forced to a pause due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

A conference call will, however, be placed through to further conclude on when it would be safe for the remaining games to be played.

The Premier League governing body noted that it is determined to address every challenge as regards the 2019/20 season, and also to fulfil its contractual obligations to broadcasters.

A part of the deliberation by the EPL reads, “The primary objective, in order to protect competition integrity, is to deliver a successful conclusion to the 2019/20 season, subject to the overriding priority around health and well-being.

“Plans continue to be developed on the agreed principle that it is in the best interests of the EFL and clubs to complete the current season at the appropriate time,”

Meanwhile, UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin, has said that Liverpool will not be crowned the English Premier League champions if the season ends abruptly, Naija News report.
