Two late goals from Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez ended Napoli’s impressive Champions league record at the Anfield Stadium.

After a disappointing weekend defeat to Leeds, the Merseyside club was looking to bounce back with a win against the Napoleons.

The Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah and Uruguayan striker, Darwin Nunez lifted the Reds out of their weekend misery as they halted the Serie A giant’s impressive 21-game unbeaten run at home.

The Reds, however, needed four goals to finish first in the table, but unfortunately, did not look like a team ready to lead the group.

Having edge past Luciano Spalletti’s men, the three points secured against the away visitors will serve as morale to face any obstacle the last-16 draw might give them.

In the early minutes of the game, Spanish midfielder, Thiago Alcantara aimed at the Napoleons goal, but was denied by Alex Meret.

Few minutes from the interval, Napoleons thought to have broken the deadlock as Leo Ostigard rose to a free-kick and fire it into Liverpool’s net with an header.

The goal was ruled out ruled out for offside after a lengthy video assistant referee (VAR) examination.

The game looked to be heading to a scoreless draw after the two keepers have only being tested few times until the Egyptian forward gave the lead in the 85th minute after firing a short from a close range.

At the last minute of the stoppage-time, the former Benfica forward, Nunez sealed the victory for the Reds.
