Senate Begins Screening Of Buhari's Ministerial Nominees

The Senate has passed a bill through second reading which is set to expose all Nigerian Presidents, Vice -Presidents, Governors and their deputies to criminal trials.

Naija News understands that the bill sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege seeks to strip sitting Presidents, Vice Presidents, Governors, and their deputies, of their immunity.

The bill which has passed the second reading in the Senate is expected to ensure that the aforementioned public office holders would lose their immunity if they come under investigation by any of the anti-corruption agencies.

Naija News also learnt that the Nigerian Senate passed for second reading an amendment of the constitution allowing Higher National Diploma or its equivalent as the least educational requirement for anyone seeking to run for the office of the president or state governors.

President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan, sent the bill to the Committee on Constitution Review after lawmakers passed the proposed amendment for second reading.
