Insecurity Will Be Solved If Buhari Decides To Listen To Advise – Bafarawa

The former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, has described people hailing President Muhammadu Buhari over the security structure in Nigeria as hypocrites and sycophants.

The former presidential aspirant stated this during an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation Hausa at the weekend.

Bafarawa further stated that the ruling administration has performed woefully in the area of security for Nigerians.

He added that the northern region of the country has been attacked by bandits, insurgents and kidnappers in recent times.

Bafarawa noted that the region has not witnessed visible infrastructural development since 2015.

He said, “Nothing good seems to be working for us Northerners. Insecurity has since held our region by the jugular.”

“The North has become the object of ridicule and pity. In the areas of education and commerce, we lead from the rear in the comity of Nigeria’s geo-political zones.”

“There are claims that President Buhari is working and transforming the entire country. But I dare say that the North has not felt his impact since he came on board,” he said.

He noted that innocent Northerners are being traded with bandits the way cattle and other domestic animals are also traded in markets.

Bafarawa revealed that hardly will a village be spotted in the region without a bandit attack on lives and property.

He claimed that the insecurity challenges can be solved in the country only if the President decides to listen to advise from patriotic statemen and other objective critics.
