Plateau State: Senator Gyang Reacts To Gunmen Attack On Mangu LGA

Senator representing Plateau North, Istifanus Gyang has described the recent killing of 12 persons in Kumbun community of Mangu LGA of Plateau State as “an act of terrorism and a reversal to the dark days”.

The attack on Kumbun community of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State has been described the Senator representing Plateau North senatorial district, Istifanus Gyang, as an act of terrorism and a reversal to the dark days.

The Senator called on the people of the state to be united, condemn and denounce the attack that led to the death of twelve people and left many injured.

The lawmaker in a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and protocol, Ibrahim Musa Ashoms, noted that he received the report of the attack with shock.

Recall that some gunmen stormed Mangu LGA on Wednesday and killed some people while some others were left injured.

The Governor of the state, Simon Lalong, while speaking on the incident on Thursday revealed that seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Gyang, who is the Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Defence said he “considers this tragic act as an act of terrorism and a reversal to the dark days”.

“No, not again on the Plateau.”

“All citizens on the Plateau should, with one voice, condemn and denounce this wickedness,” he said.

Gyang charged security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice and to take all appropriate steps to secure law-abiding citizens.

The lawmaker is appealing to the people of the state to “concede to the obvious provocation of this dastardly act to lose faith in the peace process nor resort to violent reprisals in the State.”

“Good people should not allow evil men to defeat our commitment to peace and harmonious coexistence on the Plateau.”

He prayed for the repose of the souls of all victims of the attacks.
