Fire Burns Reverend Father To Death

A fire outbreak that occurred in the early hours of yesterday at St Peter Claver Catholic Parish has claimed the life of Reverend Father Edmund Nwagbala.

Naija News gathered that Father Nwagbala was the parish priest of the church located in Nnewi Ichi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.

Reports have it that the 60-year old priest was burnt beyond recognition inside his room when fire engulfed the church premises.

Though the victim was rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical doctor and his corpse has already been deposited at the mortuary for postmortem examination.

As at the time of this report, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained but the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident said police patrol teams attached to Otolo Division led by the DPO had visited the scene.

He noted that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang has already ordered an investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.

Firefighters who visited the area were able to put out the raging fire.
