Who Is In Charge Of Nigeria As Both Buhari And Osinbajo Travel Out Of The Country?

Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has said the newly formed Economic Advisory Council (EAC) was constituted to only advise President Muhammadu Buhari on economic matters.

Governor Yahaya made this known after the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday.

The NEC comprises of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, 36 state governors, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Minister of Finance, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, among others.

Speaking to newsmen, Yahaya said: “Governors requested for clarification from NEC’s chairman-the vice president, on the relationship between NEC and the newly informed Economic Advisory Council.

“And the vice president explained that those councils are advisory for the benefit of the President while NEC is established by the constitution, they are to complement one another.

“He added that NEC could be briefed regularly on the activities of the Economic Advisory Council with the permission of the president.”

Naija News had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari constituted an Economic Advisory Council, dissolving the previous one led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The Presidency had said that the new team is made up of the following: Prof. Doyin Salami – Chairman; Dr. Mohammed Sagagi – Vice-Chairman; Prof. Ode Ojowu – Member; Dr. Shehu Yahaya – Member; Dr. Iyabo Masha – Member; Prof. Chukwuma Soludo – Member; Mr. Bismark Rewane – Member; Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu – Secretary (Senior Special Assistant to the President, Development Policy).

The presidency had said the EAC will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with Buhari.
