John Terry, Ighalo, Others React As Mikel Obi Retires From Football

Super Eagles Captain John Obi Mikel has reacted to Nigeria 1-0 victory over Burundi in the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Naija News reports that the game was settled by a lone goal from substitute striker Odion Ighalo in the 77th minute.

Speaking after the game, the former Chelsea midfielder said the Burundian side held their ground making it difficult for the Super Eagles to have a smooth sail and get an early lead.

“It was indeed a tough match. We played a compact team that was not easy to break into,” he admitted.

Also speaking, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr blamed his player struggle on a virus that attacked his players within the week in camp making it impossible for many of them to function to full capacity.

“It was definitely a tough match and we are happy to have gotten the result. We had some challenges with virus attack that knocked out some of the players, but I believe we will get better with every match,” he enthused.
