Police rescue kidnap victims

The Police have arrested a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) attached to Mashi local government area, Garba Talawai.

Naija News understands that Talawai was said to have killed his girlfriend’s maid identified as Rabi Abdullahi.

Talawai allegedly killed Abdullahi, 16, at about 12.00 hrs on Friday in the Mashi local government area, Katsina state.

While confirming the report, the spokesperson for the Katsina state police command, Gambo Isah, said the councillor of the area had made a report to the suspected DPO that a corpse was seen along a bush path in Mashi.

It was gathered that Talawai after receiving the report, went into the bush path, evacuated the corpse to the Primary Health Centre in the area. He said the body was later identified as Abdullahi’s

The Police PRO said one of the health staff on duty identified the corpse as having been brought the previous day dead by the same DPO along with one other policeman yet to be identified inside a red Toyota Carina II.

Isah said: “The deceased was later identified as a housemaid to one Sadiya Alhaji Danyaya, a girlfriend of the DPO.”

Isah said the commissioner of police in the state, Sanusi Buba, has already ordered a thorough investigation into the matter, while Talawai has been replaced by another DPO.

“Consequently both the DPO and the said girlfriend have been arrested and are helping detectives to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased,” he said.
