Tribunal Delivers Judgement On Lagos Governorship Election

Sanwo-Olu Floors Opponents At Tribunal

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday defeated his opponents challenging his election victory at the Election Petition Tribunal.

Naija News reports the governorship candidates of Alliance for Democracy, AD, and Labour party, LP, Owolabi Salis and Prof. Ifagbemi Awamaridi, had approached the election petition tribunal in the state to challenge the victory of Sanwo-Olu in the 2019 election.

However, the tribunal in its ruling on Monday, threw out the petition against the governor for lack of substance.

Gboyega Akosile, the governor’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, made this known on Twitter.

His Tweet reads: “Breaking news: Lagos State Governor Mr. @jidesanwoolu floors AD and Labour Party’s Governorship candidates, Owolabi Salis and Prof. Ifagbemi Awamaridi at the Election Petition Tribunal. The Tribunal has thrown out their petitions for lack of substance.”
