Newly sworn-in Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has held a meeting with the President Muhammadu Buhari after the 9th Assembly inauguration yesterday.

Senator Omo-agege was at the Presidential Villa with Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, to pay homage to the Nigerian President after their emergence as principal officers of the Red Chamber.

However shortly after his principal shook hands with the President, Omo-Agege knelt down to greet President Buhari while smiling.

The Senate leaders were accompanied on the visit by Presidential Adviser on National Assembly, Ita Enang, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Senator Jubrin Barau among others.

Before the meeting, the Delta-born Senator had told newsmen;

“We all know what transpired in the past but what happened today has turned the page on 8th Senate and we have moved on to the 9th Senate. I look forward to working with my colleagues irrespective of political platforms. We will work together as brothers and sisters to move the senate forward. I attribute my victory to God and God only, there is no explanation for it”

Naija News recalls that Lawan emerged the President of the Senate after defeating his colleague, Ali Ndume with 79 votes while Omo-Agege clinched the Deputy Senate President with 68 votes during the elections yesterday, defeating former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu with 37 votes.
