Delta State Made Omo-Agege, But He Fought Those Who Made Him – Oborevwori
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has criticised former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, accusing him of turning against the political leaders and stakeholders who played a role in his rise to prominence in Delta State politics.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Oborevwori said Omo-Agege’s departure from their political camp did not come as a surprise to many people within the state’s political circle.
According to the governor, several stakeholders had long expected the move because they were already aware of his intentions.
Naija News reports that Oborevwori recalled that Omo-Agege entered the political scene in 2002 and received support from influential political figures and stakeholders across Delta State.
He stated that the former senator benefited from the backing of the state’s political structure during his early years in politics.
The governor, however, alleged that Omo-Agege later distanced himself from the same group that supported him and eventually became opposed to many of those who contributed to his political growth.
Oborevwori further questioned Omo-Agege’s loyalty, claiming that the former Deputy Senate President had failed to maintain relationships with those who helped him build his political career.
He maintained that the development was not unexpected because many people in the state had already anticipated a split between Omo-Agege and the political camp that once supported him.
He said, “Omo-Agege is not somebody to be trusted. I don’t like talking about people, but I need to state it here, Omo-Agege came into politics in 2002 with nothing. This state made him but he fought those who made him.”
