‘Oborevwori Chickened Out From PDP To APC, Because I Am A Threat’ – Omo-Agege
Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has alleged that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress out of fear of electoral competition.
Naija News reports that Omo-Agege made the claim on Wednesday during an appearance on Arise Television’s The Morning Show.
He said the governor’s move to the APC was not driven by ideology but by political survival.
The former senator alleged that Oborevwori left the PDP because of the political threat he posed ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Oborevwori chickened out from the PDP to the APC because I am a threat,” he said.
Omo-Agege also reviewed the 2023 elections in Delta State, insisting that the APC made major gains under his leadership.
According to him, the party won two of the state’s three senatorial seats.
“In the 2023 elections that I led, the APC won 2 Senate seats out of 3 in Delta State,” he said.
He added that the APC also secured a major victory in Delta Central.
“In Delta Central, I defeated the governor’s candidate with a margin of about 15,000 votes,” Omo-Agege added.
The former Deputy Senate President further claimed that his post-election mobilisation across the state triggered defections from the PDP to the APC.
He maintained that Oborevwori’s defection would not weaken his political strength ahead of the 2027 elections. Omo-Agege said he remained confident of his electoral base in Delta State.
