In what appears as the last major push for the actualization of the bid to install a Speaker for the House of Representatives, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, has successfully arranged a meeting of APC returning and elected members of the House of Representatives with President Muhammadu Buhari for Tuesday (today).
In spite that the Southwest geopolitical zone already secured the Vice President’s position, the “zone” that came forth by the number of votes from geopolitical for the APC is also being pushed for “speakership” as against the North Central geopolitical zone that came third and has never produced leadership of the House of Representatives in 20years.
National Assembly Fixes Date To Pass 2019 Budget
The National Assembly has scheduled Wednesday to pass the 2019 budget. Findings showed the Appropriation Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives have been working round the clock to ensure the budget reports are submitted to the two chambers on Wednesday.
It was also learnt that the two chambers planned to submit the same budget report to avoid any form of harmonisation that will further delay the passage of the budget
Shettima Backs Ahmed Lawan For Senate Presidency
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has thrown his weight behind Senator Ahmed Lawan for the position of Senate President in the 9th Assembly.
Speaking at his Abuja residence shortly after the ‘Ahmad Lawan for Senate President Group’ paid him a courtesy visit, he said that although Sen. Ali Ndume is his kinsman, he would not defy the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) decision.
Shettima noted that most APC members, particularly from the North, won their elections based on their alliance with President Buhari and should not work against his choice.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to tender his West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) to the presidential election petition tribunal.
